** Conditions Report ***
Snow has been falling for a good portion of this test today. Dog-to-Handler vision is still good. Work for most dogs has been very similar. There is a bit of a wind pushing towards shore which is already appealing to most, given the temp and conditions; there have been a number of dogs requiring multiple whistles in the first pool to get them to the point. The second pool and cast off continues to challenge as well.

Just In - Conditions Update - 5th Series
Dog #75 Jack just finished his 5th series around 4:00 pm and with the high clouds it is allowing the little more light through. It is causing shadows across the right side of the field. The winds are picking up and its cooling down.
Updated Conditions - 5th Series
Work has continued much the same with each bird giving problems. The snow on the ground has melted but the hay bales are still covered in a dusting of white. As the dogs look out in the field after the gunners have retired, there is still a lot of white to distract their memories.
We continue to watch the forecast as it calls for 1/10" of ice and 3-5" of snow!

2018 the National of the Cold - What They Are Going Through!
There are many "watching" the 2018 National Retriever Championship via this blog and most are probably wishing they could be in Paducah Kentucky watching it live.
Well, this forecast may have you thinking otherwise...
Currently is feels like 21 degrees!
The rest of the day will barley make it above freezing!
And then let it SNOW let it SNOW let it SNOW!
THANK YOU to all the Judges, Crews, Volunteers, Handlers and Dogs for baring these less than comfortable conditions and bringing us an unforgettable National!
Enjoy the workers party tonight...you all deserve it!

4th Series - Day 2 - Conditions
7:47 am
The wind is more northerly today and stronger at 13 mph. It will be increasing as the day goes on. The temps are still below freezing and there is a chance of flurries today.
The ground is cover in snow but the crews have done a great job making sure no skim ice is on the ponds and some of the hay bales are dusted from snow.
While today is weather challenging, all are anxiously anticipating Thursday's forecast of bigger snow.

Final Gun Change - Conditions - Updates
The final gun change of the day came at 1:07 pm.
The temps have increased to 36 degrees with the winds still coming out of the north.
Shadows on the left gun station are now coming off the trees. These shadows appears to be pushing the dogs away from the mark.
23 dogs have completed this series since our last gun change. We have had three more "no birds" coming to dog #23, #35 & #36, which all still have to complete their rerun.
The dogs are still completing this test in about 4 minutes. With 21 left to run, it is looking like we have just under 2 hours left before we can put Test 1 - Double with Two Roosters, one being a Flyer in the books of the 2018 National Retriever Club Championship.

Updated Conditions - 1st Series
Another gun change. All shadows have left the area of the left flyer. The dog work is staying fairly similar. The majority of the work coming on the left bird. The areas of the fall area are fairly defined and seems to limit large hunts.

Conditions - Gun Change - 1st Series
At 8:20 am we had our first gun change.
The temps are marginally better at 26 degrees but the sun is bright in the cloudless sky. The shadows on the left hand bird that once encompassed the field have dissipated to narrow strips and will soon leave completely. The wind, still out of the north, has picked up to a steady 12 mph.
