As We Get Going...10th Series...Final Day #nrc2018

As we wait for the opening ceremonies for our final day and final 10th Series to start, here is a look at what the weather is going to be like today.

This morning started out foggy, but it is burning off quickly. Our high is going to be 58 degrees or so with light variable winds and the skies partly cloudy. Compared to the weather we have gone through this week, it is looking like the last day of the 2018 National Retriever Club Championship is going to be the best day by far!

Stay tuned as we will be bring you the coverage of what is happening here in Paducah, Kentucky at Siren Field as 11 of the top Labrador retrievers compete in the last series of the year's AKC Retriever Field Trial Championship.

Who will be the 2018 NFC???

** Conditions Report ***

Snow has been falling for a good portion of this test today. Dog-to-Handler vision is still good. Work for most dogs has been very similar. There is a bit  of a wind pushing towards shore which is already appealing to most, given the temp and conditions; there have been a number of dogs requiring multiple whistles in the first pool to get them to the point. The second pool and cast off continues to challenge as well.

**Weather Update**

The weather is holding for now, overcast and cloudy. Its 31 degrees and feels like its 22 degrees.
So it's another cold day here, and we aren't quite sure what to expect with rain, snow and ice all possible as we go into the afternoon. We will keep watching this for updates!

So please bear with us, and everyone be safe out there! Stay tuned to the Retriever News blog for updates on conditions and plans in the event of severe weather which might delay this event.

Winter Weather Alerts - Weather Channel

Updated Conditions - 5th Series

Work has continued much the same with each bird giving problems. The snow on the ground has melted but the hay bales are still covered in a dusting of white. As the dogs look out in the field after the gunners have retired, there is still a lot of white to distract their memories.

We continue to watch the forecast as it calls for 1/10" of ice and 3-5" of snow!

2018 the National of the Cold - What They Are Going Through!

Currently is feels like 21 degrees!

The rest of the day will barley make it above freezing!

And then let it SNOW let it SNOW let it SNOW!

THANK YOU to all the Judges, Crews, Volunteers, Handlers and Dogs for baring these less than comfortable conditions and bringing us an unforgettable National!

Enjoy the workers party tonight...you all deserve it!

Weather Update

3:00 pm rain has started. The weather has begun to deteriorate with colder air moving in and the temperatures have dropped.

Weather alerts are coming in for a wintry mix in the area.

4th Series – The Rain Man Commeth

At 3:00 pm the rain could not hold off anymore and we are in a downpour!

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 3:15 AM CST

...Ice and Snow Possible this Evening A wintry mix of precipitation can be expected to slowly work
southeast across parts of the Quad State region, persisting into
the evening and overnight hours.

The vast majority of the region will see just rain through sunset
with temperatures in the lower 40s. but some locations in
southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois could see patchy sleet
occur on the leading edge of the rain.

As temperatures fall after sunset, the rain will gradually mix
with then change over to sleet, freezing rain and snow during the
evening hours. This is especially true for southeast Missouri and
southwest Illinois.

The best chance for seeing any accumulating sleet and snow this
evening will be along and north of a line of Piedmont and
Perryville Missouri, onward to Ava, DuQuoin, Mount Vernon, and
Cisne Illinois. Snowfall amounts could range from one to three
tenths before the precipitation ends overnight.

In addition to the snow and sleet, up to a tenth of an inch of ice
may accumulate on elevated surfaces along and northwest of a line
from Piedmont to Marble Hill and Perryville Missouri.

The coldest air will reside along the foot hills of southeast
Missouri and parts of southwest Illinois through midnight, before
working southeast to the Ohio and Wabash Rivers by 3 am CST.

Patches of light freezing rain will be possible over southern
Illinois and the remainder of southeast Missouri during this time.
However, as the freezing air moves in, most of the measurable
precipitation will be exiting the area overnight. Very little, if
any freezing rain accumulation is expected.

As temperatures fall into the middle and upper 20s overnight, any
precipitation left on untreated roads and bridges will freeze and
may become slick and hazardous. For those traveling in southeast
Missouri and southern Illinois late tonight or early Tuesday, be
watchful for black ice and exercise caution while driving.

Another winter system is slated to return to the Quad State region
Wednesday night into Thursday, so travelers and residents should
take measures to prepare for more wintry weather later this week.

Monday Weather Forecast – Rain, Rain – GO AWAY!

See that little blue dot? That's where the West Kentucky Wildlife Management Area is located … right between show showers to the north and rain showers to the south. We are hoping the weatherman got it wrong, but...

The skies are cloudy and the temps are currently at 44 degrees (feels like 41) but will be dropping as the afternoon continues on. We have a wind coming from NNE at 6 mph. Showers are on their way with 40% chance of rain starting after noon sometime.

Weather - Does It Matter? - It's The National!!

With the start of the 2018 National Retriever Championship near, the hot topic seems to be the weather. (Or would it be better phrased as the “Cold” topic.)

Saturday, November 10, opening day, is looking to be mainly sunny with high temperature of 42 degrees and winds coming from the north 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday and Monday the temperatures are predicted to increase to 47 degrees, unfortunately with a cloud cover and a 40% chance of rain showers are predicted on Monday.

Tuesday, November 13 looks to be the worst day of the week with a high of only 38 degrees and a forecast of pm snow showers. Make sure you are bundled up for the Workers' Party that will be taking place at 6:30 pm at the Carroll Convention & Expo Center.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, SUNLIGHT that is. The weather improves starting on Wednesday with increasing temperatures which will continue to increase throughout the end of the week with a sunny Thursday and a high of 53 degrees is predicted by Friday.
